There's a lot of confusion around USDA organic foods. I'm by no means an expert on this but I do try to stay educated about what I'm eating. It can be nearly impossible to go through all the data and figure out what items to buy organic at the store. You may choose to buy all organic but sometimes it's unaffordable or unavailable. To help with some of the confusion the Environmental Working Group puts out an annual list of the 12 fruits & veggies to buy/not buy organic based on the amount of pesticides found. This is a handy guide for when you're at the grocery store and you just can't figure it out.
If you're shopping for produce in Austin today you may want to check out the Farmer's Market at the Triangle- it's every Wednesday from 4-8. What foods do you prefer to buy organic?
